Lactic Acid Resurfacing Moisturizer is formulate with a balanced blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), in a rich, emollient lotion, to provide immediate moisture and gentle exfoliation to treat symptoms associated with severely dry skin conditions. Fruit acids blended with rich emollients help eliminate flakiness as it sloughs away scaly, dry patches associated with Keratosis Pilaris and other dry skin conditions.

Lactic acid can help fade sun spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation due to melasma. While it can smooth and soften fine lines and wrinkles, lactic acid won't improve those deeper lines. Because of its large molecular size, it doesn’t penetrate the deeper layers of the dermis to the same extent as glycolic acid. Thus, it is one of the gentler exfoliants and one that can be used on sensitive skin as well as darker skin types. Topical treatments to treat eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea often contain lactic acid as well.

Directions for use

Apply evenly over affected areas and rub in thoroughly. Use once or twice daily. Wait 20 minutes after shaving before applying.  The supplier "does not recommend applying to face, neck and chest" due to the "strength."  It’s strong at 12% (that's why I am offering it), but lactic acid at higher levels is not as irritating as glycolic acid.  They want it promoted as a body product and hence the larger size.  It It’s oil-free and I use it on my face (combined with glycolic acid) without any issues.  It is a wonderful product.

Bev recommends this product for the following situations:

• Reducing AKs (actinic keratoses) and other dry, scaly skin patches. This oil-free formula can be used on the face and body.

• For use with glycolic acid to BOOST your facial alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) routine in the morning (glycolic and lactic acid combined), for additional moisture and exfoliation.

• For use as a stand-alone AHA for those that cannot use glycolic acid on a regular basis.  Gentle enough for sensitive skin.

• Highly recommended for skin prone to hyperpigmentation and melasma.
