Glutathione — a peptide composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamate. It is believed to enhance the skin’s cellular metabolism and oxygen utilization. It has been found to protect the fibroblast against free radical-induced oxidation and act as a powerful antioxidant.
Although it has many medical uses, this powerful compound can work magic on your skin. Often called the “master” antioxidant, glutathione boosts the utilization of other antioxidants, namely vitamins C and E. Glutathione not only decreases the melanin (pigmentation) of skin but has also been found to reduce the appearance of wrinkles AND increase the elasticity of the skin.
Glutathione works on skin pigment production mainly by deactivating the enzyme tyrosinase, one of the enzymes involved in making melanin. This will be very gradual and will take weeks to develop. The impact on pigmentation is transient, so you need to continue using glutathione to maintain the skin-whitening effect.
Glutathione helps you maintain a brighter, more even complexion.
