15% Glycolic Acid Cream (1.9 oz.)
$48.00
Regular price $45.00pH ~ 3.0-4.0
A rejuvenating, antioxidant-rich, anti-aging facial cream is formulated with 15% glycolic acid (the most commonly used form of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA)) and is designed to stimulate cellular turnover rate and reveal fresher, healthier, younger-looking skin. This rich cream also includes vitamins A, C and E and green tea to provide superior antioxidant protection against further free radical-induced skin damage. You'll see rejuvenated skin with fewer fine lines, less discoloration and improved texture and tone.
Glycolic exfoliation should start in the early teens and continue throughout the rest of your life. In the earlier years, glycolic exfoliation helps to prevent and treat acne. As we age, the benefit shifts towards restoring skin smoothness and luster, as your shedding dead skin cells becomes irregular leading to accumulation of dulling dead cells which also contribute to excess brown pigmentation.
Glycolic acid is appropriate for all skin types, and all skin types can receive all of the benefits from glycolic. For oily skin, it helps to remove dead cells, which can clog pores. For dry skin, glycolic allows moisturizers to penetrate the skin better and removes the flakes of dry, dulling dead skin. For normal skin, glycolic creates a smooth surface and a youthful, luminous glow. For sensitive skin, glycolic can be paired with moisturizers. Oily skin will be able to tolerate a higher strength versus dry, sensitive, thin skin.
If you are new to Glycolic Acid or have sensitive skin, I recommend starting with the 10% Glycolic Acid. Allow your skin to acclimate for about 3 weeks. Start by applying a small “pea-size” just three times per week (or every other day) for three weeks. Continue slowly building up this way until you're able to use it every day. If you’ve built up a tolerance and have more serious concerns with anti-aging, hyperpigmentation and roughness, move up to the next strength. When introducing a higher strength glycolic acid, it still makes sense to alternate it with the prior strength (e.g. a 10% or 15%), every other day.
Glycolic acid makes you photosensitive, so wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day is a must no matter what!
